Prof. Dr. Philip Kotler Unable to attend the World Marketing Summit Malaysia 2013 Due to Family Emergency Other confirmed speakers include 3 International Ministers and Global Thought Leaders

Kuala Lumpur, 28 September 2013: The World Marketing Summit Malaysia 2013 (WMSM 2013) has been informed regretfully that Professor Dr. Philip Kotler, the world's foremost Marketing Guru and founder of World Marketing Summit, is unable to attend the WMSM 2013 due to a family emergency.

In a recorded message to delegates of the WMSM 2013, Professor Dr. Philip Kotler said: "My greetings to all the speakers and delegates who have come to Putrajaya, Malaysia from many countries to attend the second World Marketing Summit held from September 28 – 30, 2013. Your presence here says that you are the kind of person who cares deeply about the problems in the world and the need to find a solution. The World Marketing Summit has as its purpose the development of solutions to the problems of poverty, hunger, pollution, violence and social disorder."

"I am sorry for my absence at this wonderful WMSM 2013, as my wife has just undergone surgery on her hip on September 17, 2013. She will need 4-6 weeks to get full mobility back, during which I need to help her physically and emotionally," added Professor Dr. Philip Kotler.

Dr. Marceline Lemarie, Organising Chairperson of WMSM 2013: "Our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery are with Professor and Mrs. Kotler during this difficult period. This is unexpected and I must offer my sincere appreciation to all delegates and global marketing luminaries over this turn of events. I'm sure many have come from afar to meet Professor Dr. Kotler in person, however this is an incident that he needs to attend to and we seek understanding. Nevertheless, the WMSM 2013 must go on and I hope that all delegates will explore means to integrate purpose and profits into marketing campaigns. We have with us a stellar cast of extraordinary international marketing luminaries which I am sure will inspire and motivate those in attendance."

The 3-day, dialogue-filled, "think-tank" congregation of minds, has attracted an acclaimed cast of international thought leaders, including Minister Dr. Bernard Kouchner, Founder of Doctors Without Borders; Professor Dr. Hubert Gjizen, Director of UNESCO Asia & Pacific; Dr Ashok Khosla, OBE and Winner of the UN Sasakawa Environment Prize; H.E Badria Al Mulla, President of International Emirates Management for Quality; Mrs Sara Ismail Mohamed, CEO of Al-Bashayer Investment Company and Sanjit "Bunker" Roy of Barefoot College and recently awarded the prestigious 'Clinton Global Citizens Awards' by the Clinton Global Initiative, working in concert to deliver a "Better World Through Marketing".
